‘SNL’ 50th Anniversary Reunions: These Classic Stars We Wish Had Returned

‘SNL’ 50th Anniversary: Classic Sketches We Really Wish Had Made a Comeback!

The “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” took us on a wild ride down memory lane with classic characters like Mike Myers’ Linda Richman and Marcello Hernández’s hilarious Domingo. But let’s be real—there were some iconic sketches and fan-favorite characters we really missed, and the nostalgia is REAL.

Here are the legends we would’ve loved to see shine again:

Wayne’s World
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey’s iconic “Wayne’s World” reunion during SNL’s 40th was a total hit. So why not bring back the party on?! A “Wayne’s World” moment would have made the anniversary extra special.

Target Lady
Kristen Wiig’s quirky “Target Lady” has been a fan favorite for years. We were ready for her oddball checkout moments to make a triumphant return, but alas, the shelves were bare.

The Californians
Yes, we got that fun Volkswagen commercial, but what about the real fun? Bill Hader’s absence was felt, but we can’t help but wish for another hilarious “Californians” sketch—because, duh, it’s iconic.

Church Lady
Come on, how could we forget Dana Carvey’s sassy, political Church Lady? We had high hopes to see her stir things up on Sunday, but sadly, her sharp wit stayed in the confessional.

Whiskers R We
Wiig and McKinnon’s “Whiskers R We” sketch is pure comedy gold. Furonica and Barbarba DeDrew would’ve been the purr-fect additions to the anniversary special. Just imagine the mayhem with actual cats on stage—total chaos, but worth it.

NPR’s Delicious Dish
Ana Gastyer and Molly Shannon as Margaret Jo and Terry Rialto would’ve been the perfect fit for some ultra-boring, delightfully awkward NPR radio vibes. And of course, Alec Baldwin’s Pete Schweddy and his infamous Schweddy Balls would have taken the sketch over the top.

Spartan Cheerleaders
Where was Cheri Oteri? Will Ferrell’s “Spartan Cheerleaders” were sorely missed. Can you imagine the classic cheerleaders throwing down some fresh moves? Pure gold.

Gumby
Eddie Murphy’s return to Studio 8H was a total treat, but we couldn’t help but dream of a fresh, sassy Gumby sketch. Murphy’s take on the iconic clay figure could’ve brought a modern spin to the classic character—and we were so ready for it!

We love the laughs we got, but these iconic moments are forever etched in SNL history. Here’s hoping they make a comeback soon.
