Chelsea’s quest for UEFA Conference League glory continues as they have been drawn against Danish side FC Copenhagen in the tournament’s last 16.
The Blues cruised through the league phase, winning all six matches—an achievement unmatched by any other club. Now, they look to take another step toward the final in Wroclaw, Poland, at the end of May.
Their knockout journey begins with a trip to the Danish capital on March 6, followed by the return leg at Stamford Bridge a week later. Chelsea fans will remember their last Champions League meeting with Copenhagen in 2011, when they secured a 2-0 aggregate victory at this stage of the competition.
Copenhagen, who finished 18th in the league phase, pulled off an impressive play-off round win over Bundesliga side Heidenheim after extra time. The Danes are no strangers to big European nights, having reached the Champions League last 16 last season before falling to Manchester City.
Should Enzo Maresca’s men advance, they’ll face either Molde of Norway or Poland’s Legia Warsaw in the quarter-finals. However, the biggest challenge could come from Fiorentina, who have reached the last two Conference League finals and are seen as Chelsea’s strongest rival for the title.
The Italians face Greek giants Panathinaikos in their last-16 clash, with potential quarter-final opponents Celje (Slovenia) or Lugano (Switzerland) waiting in the wings. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s possible semi-final opposition includes Pafos (Cyprus), Djurgarden (Sweden), Borac Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Rapid Vienna (Austria).
