A Federal High Court in Lagos has put a pause on the arraignment of Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as Eezee Tee, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The judge, Justice Alexander Owoeye, cited an ongoing “administrative procedure” as the reason for the delay.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a four-count charge against Onyedikachi over alleged fraudulent conversion. However, during Thursday’s hearing, Justice Owoeye made it clear that no pronouncements could be made on the case until the administrative process was concluded.
“There is an administrative procedure going on in this case, and until it is completed, I cannot make any pronouncement on it,” the judge stated.
Onyedikachi, who had been absent in the last court session, was present this time, alongside his legal team led by senior lawyers Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, and Dr. Monday Ubani, SAN. Representing the EFCC was Bilikisu Buhari.
Despite a request from Onyedikachi’s legal team for all parties to maintain the status quo while awaiting the court’s decision, the judge declined. The case has now been adjourned until May 14, leaving many waiting to see how the legal battle unfolds.
