Faith and Unity: General Christopher Musa Joins Muslims to Break Ramadan Fast

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the need for unity among Nigerians, regardless of religious differences, as he joined Muslim faithful to break their fast at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday night.

In the spirit of Ramadan and his people-focused leadership, General Musa urged Nigerians to embrace love, cooperation, and tolerance to foster national security, development, and progress.

“God has brought us together as Nigerians, not to divide or destroy, but to uplift and strengthen one another,” he said. “Looking at us, no one can tell who is a Christian or a Muslim—we are all one people.”

He also highlighted the significance of breaking fast with the Muslim community while Christians observe Lent, emphasizing that “God does not make mistakes, and our diversity is our strength.”

Reflecting on his childhood in Sokoto, he described the experience as nostalgic, recalling how breaking fast together during Ramadan was a cherished tradition. “This is how we are supposed to live as Nigerians—together, in peace and unity,” he added.

The event was attended by Muslim and Christian military personnel, civilians, and media representatives, further reinforcing the spirit of solidarity.

The Chief Imam of the Defence Headquarters, Navy Captain Gidado Mijdad, commended the CDS for his gesture, describing it as a demonstration of camaraderie and national cohesion.

As Ramadan continues, General Musa urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders and for the defeat of insecurity, expressing hope that “our country will continue to grow and prosper.”
