Fearless and Free: Ekiti’s MamaSpade Rides 7,000km to South Africa for African Unity

Omolewa Adesuyi, popularly known as MamaSpade, is gearing up for the adventure of a lifetime—a bold 7,000km solo bike ride from Lagos, Nigeria, to Cape Town, South Africa. The five-week journey, which kicks off in celebration of International Women’s Day, is more than just a test of endurance—it’s a ride for unity across Africa.

The Ekiti-born biker, who previously conquered a Lagos-to-Ivory Coast trip in 2023, says pushing limits is what fuels her passion.

“Biking has given me freedom, strength, and purpose,” MamaSpade shared. “I rode 5,000km last year, but that wasn’t enough. This time, I’m going further—because Africa needs to be more connected, and this ride is my way of promoting unity.”

Her mother, overwhelmed with pride, admitted she never expected her daughter to grow into a fearless biker. “From the day she was born, I knew she was special. Watching her chase her dreams has been inspiring. I appreciate the biking community for standing by her.”

According to project manager Toluwani Adeniyi, MamaSpade’s route will take her through Cameroon, Congo, Angola, Namibia, and finally, Cape Town. Beyond unity, the ride is also a powerful statement for women everywhere.

“All she’s saying is, as a woman, you can dream big, take on challenges, and achieve greatness,” Adeniyi emphasized.

With the support of her family, team, and Africa’s biking community, MamaSpade is proving that no road is too long for those who dare to ride.
