Tragedy in Ogun: Rainstorm Destroys School, Kills Student, Injures Several

A devastating rainstorm in Ogun State has claimed the life of a 14-year-old student, Timothy Amosun, and left five others injured after it tore through classrooms at Mayigi Community Comprehensive High School in Ilase, Ipokia Local Government Area.

The tragic incident also left two teachers, a food vendor, and her seven-month-old baby injured. Governor Dapo Abiodun, expressing deep shock and sadness, extended his condolences to the affected families and pledged full government support.

“The loss of young Timothy is heartbreaking, and we will do everything possible to support the victims and rebuild the damaged school,” the governor stated.

He assured that the state government would cover the medical expenses of the injured and had already directed emergency response teams to move those in critical condition to specialist hospitals for advanced care.

Additionally, the Commissioner for Education has been tasked with assessing the damage and coordinating efforts to restore the school’s infrastructure.
