Trump vs. the Judges: White House Slams Courts for ‘Usurping’ Presidential Power

The White House has accused U.S. judges of overstepping their bounds, claiming they are blocking key policies and undermining President Donald Trump’s authority.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday lashed out at what she called a “concerted effort by the far left” to use courts as a political weapon against the administration.

“Not only are they overriding the president’s authority, but they are also undermining the will of the American people,” Leavitt said during a press briefing.

Her remarks came after District Judge James Boasberg halted Trump’s deportation flights for Venezuelan migrants, a move that enraged the president. Trump had invoked a rarely used wartime law to carry out the deportations, arguing it was necessary for national security.

Calling Boasberg a “Democrat activist,” Leavitt insisted the ruling was politically motivated. Trump took it further, branding the judge a “Radical Left Lunatic” and calling for his impeachment.

His attack sparked an unusual public response from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who defended judicial independence.

“For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision,” Roberts said.

Undeterred, Trump doubled down on his criticism Wednesday, warning on Truth Social that judicial interference threatened the country’s future.

“If a President doesn’t have the right to throw murderers and other criminals out of our Country because a Radical Left Lunatic Judge wants to assume the role of President, then our Country is in very big trouble and destined to fail!” he posted.

This latest clash adds to the growing tensions between Trump’s administration and the judiciary, as courts continue to push back against controversial policies—including blocking a government shutdown and suspending a military ban on transgender service members.

With legal battles piling up, Trump appears to be gearing up for an unprecedented showdown with the judiciary, setting the stage for a dramatic fight over executive power.
