In an exciting announcement, the Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as official public holidays to mark the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. According to a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslims across the country for successfully completing the sacred Ramadan fast.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo reflected on the significance of Ramadan, emphasizing its role in cultivating self-discipline, compassion, and spiritual renewal. He urged all Muslims to continue embodying the key values of love, generosity, and peace, which were central to their observance of the holy month.
The minister also used the occasion to encourage Nigerians of all faiths to pray for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation during this festive time. “As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us reflect on the lessons of Ramadan, embrace one another with love and forgiveness, and work together to build a more united and prosperous Nigeria,” Tunji-Ojo said in his statement.
Additionally, he called for safe and responsible celebrations, encouraging acts of kindness toward the less privileged in keeping with the spirit of both Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak, praying that the blessings of the season bring happiness and fulfillment to every citizen.
With the long weekend ahead, Nigerians can now look forward to a special time of reflection, celebration, and unity!
