Popular Nollywood actress Lili Afe has been left in shock after being asked to pay a jaw-dropping $1,200 for aso ebi at a friend’s wedding in Lagos.
Taking to Instagram on March 26, 2025, Lili didn’t hold back her disbelief. “Are we now selling aso ebi in dollars in Lagos? You people are doing too much!” she exclaimed.
The actress explained that she had innocently congratulated her friend upon receiving the wedding invitation, only to discover the extravagant cost of the fabric. “I checked the price and saw 1200. I thought it was in Naira at first and wondered, ‘Is she doing giveaway?’”
Her post has since sparked heated discussions online, with many Nigerians expressing concerns over the skyrocketing cost of wedding traditions. While some defended the trend as a way to maintain exclusivity, others criticized the culture of placing financial burdens on guests.
Would you pay that much for aso ebi? The debate rages on!
