Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has opened up about the struggles he faced in the movie industry, revealing that jealousy and blackmail from some colleagues nearly derailed his career.
In a candid conversation on the Nollywood Hardcore Podcast, Anuku claimed that certain actors in the industry engaged in diabolic practices out of envy for his success.
“In this industry, there are staircases that were not built well. Even when you try to rise, someone is always there, trying to pull you down,” he said.
He further expressed disappointment over the lack of genuine support among colleagues, urging people to embrace love rather than condemnation.
“It was a bit of diabolism; some people were envious of my shine and blackmailed me. But life isn’t meant to be about tearing each other down. We need each other. We are meant to be loved, not condemned,” Anuku added.
Despite the challenges, the actor remains optimistic, stating that his journey is far from over. “Life isn’t going to end for me now because God is not finished with me yet.”
His revelations have sparked conversations about the behind-the-scenes politics in Nollywood and the unseen battles stars face in the industry.
