Antony’s Resurgence: Manchester United Loanee Shines with Third Goal in Real Betis’ 2-0 Win Over Sociedad

Antony’s revival is in full swing after his move to Real Betis, as the Manchester United loanee scored his third goal in just four appearances during their 2-0 La Liga victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

After a challenging two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, Antony left United in January, seeking a fresh start and more playing time. While he made a solid start with three goals in his first three Premier League games, his overall record for United was underwhelming, with just four goals in 52 appearances since the start of the 2023/24 season.

The Brazilian’s move to Betis is already proving fruitful. He scored his first La Liga goal against Celta Vigo last weekend, followed by another in Betis’ 3-0 Europa Conference League win over Gent.

In the Sociedad match, Antony wasted no time getting on the scoresheet. After a goalless first half, he pounced on a loose ball in the box just six minutes into the second half, striking a powerful left-footed shot past Sociedad keeper Álex Remiro to break the deadlock. He nearly scored again moments later, but his effort narrowly missed the target.

With three goals and an assist in his first four matches for Betis, Antony is quickly rediscovering the form that made him such a sought-after talent. His teammate, Marc Roca, added two more goals in quick succession to seal the win and earn all three points for Betis.

Antony’s resurgence at Betis is well underway, proving that a change of scenery was just what he needed to get back to his best.
