Rio Ferdinand has voiced his concern that Manchester United could face relegation this season as the club endures one of its worst campaigns in recent history.

Following a 1-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday, United slipped to 15th place in the Premier League, just 12 points above the relegation zone. Despite still holding a cushion over Ipswich in 17th, Ferdinand fears the worst for his former club.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said, “Only Wolves and West Ham separate my club from the relegation places. We’re that close. Someone said we need 11 points just to stay up.”

Looking at the remaining fixtures, he’s not optimistic about the Reds’ chances. “I’m not seeing wins. That’s the problem,” Ferdinand added, stressing the difficulty of upcoming games, including matches against Arsenal, Man City, and Newcastle.

United have been in disarray under manager Ruben Amorim, who took over in November after the sacking of Erik ten Hag. Amorim’s win rate stands at a troubling 43%, with United having lost eight of their last 12 Premier League matches.

With the pressure mounting on Amorim, United’s survival in the top flight is starting to feel like a very real concern. Their next match comes this Saturday against Everton at Goodison Park.
