Caragh Keane, daughter of Manchester United icon Roy Keane, has shared her emotional battle with lupus—an incurable autoimmune disease that left her with extreme fatigue, memory loss, and debilitating joint pain.

A Life-Changing Diagnosis

Four years ago, Caragh was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic illness that causes severe inflammation and can lead to life-threatening complications. Similar to singer Selena Gomez—who underwent a kidney transplant due to the disease—Caragh faced hair loss, painful blisters, and joint pain so extreme that doctors even considered chemotherapy.

A Father’s Support Through the Struggle

The condition left Caragh bedridden for six weeks, struggling with exhaustion and cognitive issues. In those dark moments, she credits her parents—especially her father, Roy Keane—for being her lifeline.

“Life was over, no way out. I wouldn’t be here without them,” she told PA Real Life.

The Turning Point: Healing Through Food

Determined to regain control of her health, Caragh turned to research on the link between diet and inflammation. She switched to a nutrient-rich diet focused on whole foods, high-quality proteins, healthy fats, vegetables, and gut-friendly ingredients like bone broth. Over time, her symptoms improved—her hair grew back, blisters faded, and her joint pain eased.

Inspired by her journey, she founded Superkeen, a wellness brand offering organic products designed to support gut health and overall well-being.

A Mission to Help Others

Although lupus remains incurable, Caragh is committed to helping others battling similar conditions.

“With the main overarching aim of being inclusive and knowing you’re not alone, I hope I can help people. We’re all in it together,” she said.

Roy Keane, known for his tough, no-nonsense attitude on the pitch, has proven to be a pillar of strength for his daughter off it. Through resilience and lifestyle changes, Caragh is now using her story to inspire and support others—one meal at a time.
