Rising football talent Mac-Ford Akhabue has revealed his admiration for Nigerian star Victor Osimhen, naming the Super Eagles striker as his role model.
The 18-year-old central defender, who plays for Oakville Blue Devils in Canada, praised Osimhen’s relentless work ethic, resilience, and talent, saying the Galatasaray forward embodies what it means to be a complete footballer.
“I will say my role model is Victor Osimhen. Apart from being from my tribe, Esan, Edo State, he has been a huge motivation for me,” Akhabue said. “His journey to global football success, his dedication, and his determination to excel are inspiring. Any young player serious about making it in football should look up to him.”
Akhabue, a former High Park FC player, has already made waves in youth football. He won the New York Cup with Bryst Academy and was a finalist in the U-17 Imodel Cup. At just 15, he competed in the Imodel League, showing promise beyond his years.
Eager to take his career to the next level, the young defender has his sights set on playing in League 1 and League 2 (Semi-Pro) this summer. But his biggest dream? Representing Nigeria on the international stage.
“I want to play for Nigeria, just like Osimhen is doing now. That’s my ambition, and I’m ready to work towards it,” Akhabue declared.
With his determination and talent, Akhabue could soon be another Nigerian star making waves on the global stage.
