A Nigerian teenager, Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo Okeke, is set to make history as he unveils the world’s largest art canvas by an individual, a breathtaking masterpiece spanning 12,303 square meters titled Impossible is a Myth.
At just 15 years old, Kanyeyachukwu has broken the Guinness World Record for the Largest Painting, proving that creativity knows no bounds. His abstract expressionist style has captivated audiences, and his journey has become a beacon of inspiration for young artists and neurodivergent individuals worldwide.
The President of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Muhammad Sulaiman, hailed the young artist’s work as a testament to resilience and self-expression, emphasizing that Impossible is a Myth tells a story of triumph over adversity.
“This is more than just a record-breaking feat; it challenges conventional norms and reinforces the idea that neurodivergent individuals have invaluable contributions to global art and culture,” said SNA General Secretary, Rowland Goyit.
Kanyeyachukwu’s father, Tagbo Okeke, reflected on his son’s journey, noting how art became a transformative force in his life.
“He was once completely non-verbal due to autism, but art has helped him find his voice,” he shared. “People see the finished artwork, but they don’t witness the struggles—his meltdowns, the emotional distress when he can’t paint. But through structure and guidance, he’s overcome so much.”
Created over 12 weeks using acrylic on canvas, Impossible is a Myth will be officially unveiled at Eagle Square, Abuja, on April 2, 2025. Following its debut, the artwork will embark on a national and international tour, alongside educational programs advocating for autism awareness, inclusion, and the power of creative expression.
Kanyeyachukwu’s incredible feat is not just a personal victory—it’s a global message: impossible is truly a myth.
