Actress Lizzy Anjorin has finally responded to the drama surrounding gospel singer Tope Alabi’s refusal to perform at her surprise birthday party, and she’s not holding back.

In a video making rounds on social media, Lizzy addressed the controversy head-on, expressing her admiration for Tope Alabi’s music but making it clear that she didn’t need the singer to celebrate her special day.

“Tope Alabi, I love your music, but I don’t need you. What do I need you for?” Lizzy declared, setting the record straight amidst the growing social media buzz.

She also shared her disappointment over the situation, revealing that she was shocked to learn that Tope Alabi’s refusal to perform was due to the people attending the party. According to Lizzy, it was only after learning that certain people were there that the gospel singer chose to remain in her car and not perform.

“Those people are my loved ones, and they took time out of their busy lives to come and celebrate with me,” Lizzy added, making it clear she would have handled things differently if the roles had been reversed. “If it were me, I would never act like that.”

The actress also touched on the reported N3.5 million fee, confirming that amount was indeed paid to Tope Alabi but questioned the value of such a large sum. “Do you know how many people that money could help in a general hospital?” Lizzy pointed out, emphasizing the importance of using funds wisely.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Dr. Oreofe Williams, who helped facilitate the arrangement, gave his own take on the situation. He clarified that Tope Alabi’s team was actually paid N2.5 million after a 70% price reduction, not the reported N3.5 million. Williams also revealed that Tope Alabi and her team felt manipulated, which led to them returning the money and leaving the event.
