Heading into the match, PSG only needed a draw to secure the title, with a commanding 21-point lead over second-placed Monaco. Doue’s decisive goal, 10 minutes into the second half, gave the Parisians their fourth consecutive league title and their 11th in the last 13 seasons, reinforcing their grip on French football since the 2011 takeover by Qatar Sports Investments.
“It’s a nice feeling,” said PSG captain Marquinhos. “It’s the reward for all the work we’ve put in this season, and the team deserves it.”
PSG’s triumph extends their lead over Saint-Étienne, who have 10 league titles, marking another milestone in the club’s history. With the trophy secured, PSG now turn their attention to their upcoming European clash against Aston Villa on Wednesday, a crucial tie in their pursuit of continental glory.
However, PSG are also targeting an unbeaten season in Ligue 1, having gone 28 matches without a loss. With 23 wins and 5 draws, they aim to make history as the first French side to go unbeaten in a 34-match Ligue 1 campaign, a feat that has only been narrowly missed before by Nantes in the 1994-95 season.
