A northern socio-political group, the Kaduna Solidarity Vanguard (KSV), has raised concerns over Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed’s recent resignation from his position as Special Adviser on Politics to Vice President Kashim Shettima. The group alleges that his decision may reflect shifting political loyalties, questioning the true motivations behind the resignation.

In a statement released by the group’s chairman, Lawal Tanimu, KSV suggests that Baba-Ahmed’s resignation could be a strategic move tied to personal and political interests. The group points to a perceived pattern in Nigerian politics where political alignments shift after elections, often influenced by changing power dynamics.

KSV expressed doubt over the initial motivations that led Baba-Ahmed to accept the advisory role in the first place, suggesting that it might not have aligned with his long-term commitment to regional development. They also mentioned the relatively small budgetary allocation of ₦36 billion to the Vice President’s office, which could have contributed to Baba-Ahmed’s decision, as it likely limited his political influence within the administration.

The statement further emphasized that Baba-Ahmed’s return to advocacy, after stepping down from an official position, calls for a reflection on his political consistency. It urges northern citizens to carefully evaluate the positions of public figures, encouraging transparency and accountability in their support.

“Baba-Ahmed’s resignation invites scrutiny on the alignment of public service roles and political influence. As he re-enters the political commentary scene, we must ensure his advocacy aligns with long-term regional and national welfare,” KSV concluded.
