In a bold move to revamp football management in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially dissolved the board of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) and ushered in a new era with a freshly appointed caretaker committee.
The shake-up was confirmed in a statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Tuesday in Akure. According to the release, Mr. Dele Ologun, who served as Executive Chairman, along with other board members, has been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. They’ve also been instructed to return all state property under their care.
In their place, the governor has greenlit a new caretaker team to steer the affairs of Sunshine Stars Football Club, the state’s flagship team.
Leading the new squad is Mr. Tokunbo Akinyelure, who will double as Team Manager and Welfare Officer. He’ll be joined by a team of dedicated hands in key support roles — from physiotherapists to media officers — all tasked with reigniting the team’s passion and performance.
The newly installed committee will report directly to the Governor’s Office, reflecting the administration’s hands-on approach to turning around the fortunes of Sunshine Stars.
“The goal is simple — bring back the fire, the discipline, and the pride of Sunshine Stars,” said Adeniyan.
