A viral video has sparked outrage on social media after a man, Ogoro Miffy, accused the Delta State Police Command of illegally seizing his stolen car and converting it into an official police patrol vehicle.

According to Miffy, the incident dates back to 2015 when his vehicle mysteriously vanished while he was attending a church program. Following the theft, he promptly reported the case to the Ekpan Division Police Station, even printing and distributing flyers to aid in the search for his missing car.

In his emotional account, delivered partly in Nigerian Pidgin, Miffy revealed the shocking moment in 2017 when he allegedly spotted his missing vehicle, now branded with police insignia, being used by officers at the very same Ekpan Division.

“I discovered my motor with the police. They converted my vehicle to their own use,” Miffy stated in the now-trending video, while holding up a photo of the car bearing police markings.

The saga didn’t end there. Miffy took legal action and, in 2018, secured a High Court ruling in his favor, which ordered the police to pay him ₦10 million in damages. However, the police reportedly appealed the decision, and enforcement of the judgment has since stalled.

In a heartfelt plea, Miffy said,

“Because I don’t have a helper, they are oppressing me. I was using the motor to manage my life, but now things are tough. Come to my rescue.”

Delta Police Respond

Reacting to the viral allegations, SP Edafe Bright, spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, dismissed the claim, stating,

“2015-2017 is a long time ago. The said vehicle is not in Ekpan Police Station from my findings.”

He also urged Miffy to reach out directly for further investigation and resolution.
