The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has celebrated what she calls a groundbreaking moment for gender equality in Nigeria’s military. Her praise comes following the historic appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyechi Appolonia as the Acting Director of Army Public Relations—marking the first time a woman has ever held the position.

In a statement shared by her media adviser, Jonathan Eze, the Minister hailed the move as a major step forward in promoting women into top leadership roles within the Nigerian Armed Forces.
