Liverpool fans are on the edge of glory as the Reds stand just one point away from clinching their historic 20th English league title — and it could all be wrapped up in front of a roaring Anfield this Sunday.

A simple draw against struggling Tottenham Hotspur will be enough to seal the crown and bring Liverpool level with Manchester United in the all-time title race. Arne Slot’s side would then sit 13 points clear of Arsenal, with just four games left to play — an unassailable lead.

The anticipation is sky-high at Anfield, where supporters are hoping to turn the stadium into a sea of celebration. And let’s be honest — it’s hard to see Spurs playing the spoiler. The North London club sits 16th in the table, with a dismal recent record at Anfield, not having won there since 2011.

Liverpool’s recent dominance over Tottenham is another reason for optimism. They thumped Spurs 6-3 earlier this season in the Premier League and cruised past them in the League Cup semi-finals with an aggregate 4-1 win.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk, reflecting on the team’s gritty 1-0 win at Leicester last week, admitted the title is within touching distance — but warned there’s still work to be done.

“We’re in a good position, but we’re not there yet,” Van Dijk said. “We’ve got one more big step to take — and we’ll be ready.”

Champions League Race Heating Up

With Liverpool and Arsenal essentially locked into the top two spots, all eyes now shift to the race for Champions League places — and it’s getting tense.

Just four points separate third-placed Manchester City from seventh-placed Aston Villa. Thanks to Premier League teams’ stellar European performances this season, the league’s top five will qualify for the Champions League.

City grabbed a crucial win against Villa midweek, while Nottingham Forest stunned Tottenham to move into fourth. Villa and Forest, however, have FA Cup semi-final clashes this weekend — giving Newcastle a golden chance to climb the table if they can overcome relegation-threatened Ipswich.

Meanwhile, Chelsea can’t afford to slip. They face Everton at Stamford Bridge with a brutal run-in looming: Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United, and Forest await.

Relegation Watch: Ipswich Hanging by a Thread

At the bottom of the table, it’s nearly curtains for Ipswich. Unless they pull off a miracle against Newcastle, they could be relegated by Saturday evening — especially if West Ham manage a draw or win at Brighton.

If that happens, Ipswich would become the latest victim in a worrying trend: all three promoted teams being relegated in the same season, something that last occurred in 1997/98 before repeating again in 2023/24.

Southampton’s season has also been forgettable. Already relegated, the Saints drew level with Derby County’s infamous 11-point record from 2007/08. They have five games left to avoid taking home that unwanted record.
