The Nigerian military has reported a series of successful counterterrorism operations that led to the arrest of 26 terrorist collaborators and the rescue of 41 hostages across multiple regions of the country.
Operations conducted between September 14 and 22 spanned the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-South, and South-East, targeting Boko Haram, ISWAP fighters, kidnappers, and other criminal networks.
In the North-East, troops neutralized insurgents in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states while rescuing three hostages. The North-West saw the capture of notorious terror kingpin Mallam Abubakar Ahmadu along with six accomplices and the liberation of 14 victims.
In the North-Central region, soldiers apprehended 52 criminals, including a high-profile kidnapper, and rescued nine abducted individuals. Operations in the South-South disrupted oil theft worth ₦19.75 million, destroyed 16 illegal refineries, arrested 19 suspects, and freed five victims. Meanwhile, in the South-East, six suspects were arrested, three hostages freed, and weapons and explosives recovered.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the successes and reiterated the military’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and safeguarding citizens.
Authorities pledged to continue operations to restore security and stability across affected regions.
