Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has clarified that her invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers for the commissioning of constituency projects in Kogi State followed due legislative procedure. The senator, who recently marked her second year in office, said she officially communicated through the presiding officer for the letter to be read on the Senate floor in line with parliamentary custom.

Akpoti-Uduaghan extended the invitation on Thursday, two months after returning from a six-month suspension from the upper legislative chamber. She explained that the project commissioning was not about personal recognition but a celebration of public service and a reflection of her commitment to institutional respect and due process.

The Kogi senator was suspended on March 6, 2025, after a heated exchange with the Senate President earlier in February, during which she accused Akpabio of sexual harassment—an allegation he strongly denied. Her suspension followed the adoption of the report by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.

Since her reinstatement on September 24, Akpoti-Uduaghan has gradually resumed legislative duties and public engagements. Most recently, she participated in a legislative retreat organised by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development on October 18, reaffirming her active return to national service.
