The management of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, has dismissed as false, misleading and malicious a social media post alleging that its Rector, Arch. Dr. Henry Ojobo, is shielding a staff member accused of involvement in a criminal case.

In a statement released by the institution’s Media and Public Relations Team, the management accused one Meddy Olotu, who authored the viral post, of deliberately spreading falsehood to malign the Rector and discredit the institution.

The statement clarified that the matter cited in the social media post, involving Mr. Andrew Ogbuja, had been concluded in court long before Dr. Ojobo’s appointment as Rector of the Polytechnic.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Benue State Polytechnic operates under strict ethical and administrative standards,” the statement said. “Since assuming office, Dr. Ojobo has shown an unwavering commitment to discipline, transparency, and due process in all institutional matters.”

The Polytechnic emphasized that since Dr. Ojobo took office, the institution has fully complied with all directives from the Ministry of Education and the Governing Council concerning staff discipline and conduct.
Describing the Rector as “a reputable administrator and respected academician”, the statement noted that his leadership has been marked by reforms, accountability, and institutional progress rather than any form of cover-up or complicity.

The management condemned the post as a deliberate attempt to drag the Rector’s name into controversy, urging the public to disregard the false narrative.

“We strongly condemn the attempt by Meddy Olotu and his possible sponsors to drag the name of the Rector and the institution into disrepute through falsehood and sensationalism,” the Polytechnic stated. “It is unfortunate that he seeks to exploit sensitive issues for cheap popularity at the expense of truth and reputation.”

The institution further stressed that Dr. Ojobo has no connection whatsoever with the case involving Mr. Ogbuja, noting that the incidents referenced occurred several years before his assumption of office.

The management urged the public to ignore the social media claims entirely and cautioned against the spread of unverified information.
