The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, **Hon. Samaila Bagudu**, by suspected armed bandits. Security agencies have since launched a coordinated search and rescue operation to ensure his safe return.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. in Bagudo town, Bagudo Local Government Area, shortly after the lawmaker concluded his Isha’i prayers and was heading home.
Abubakar disclosed that a joint security team comprising police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes has been deployed to track down the perpetrators. “The combined forces are combing all suspected bandit routes and adjoining forests to rescue the victim unharmed and bring the culprits to justice,” the statement noted.
The Commissioner of Police condemned the abduction, describing it as a “heinous and cowardly act”, and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. He also urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and share any useful information that could assist ongoing operations.
