Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Cameroon’s President Paul Biya following his re-election, reaffirming the strong and long-standing ties between the two countries.
According to a report obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on Friday, Xi highlighted the traditional friendship shared by China and Cameroon and noted that the two nations have in recent years strengthened political trust and achieved fruitful cooperation across multiple sectors.
The message underscores China’s continuing commitment to strengthening its partnership with Cameroon, reflecting broader efforts to enhance engagement with Africa through diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation.
He emphasised that China and Cameroon have consistently supported each other on core interests and major concerns.
Xi pointed out that 2026 will mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, describing it as an opportunity to further advance bilateral relations.
