The Northeast United Group on Friday held a press conference in Abuja to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu as Chairman of the Military Pension Board. The event, which was well attended, took place at the Agura Hotel, Abuja, and drew prominent personalities and members of the group from across the North-East geopolitical zone.

Speaking at the briefing, President of the group, Alhaji Abubakar Aminu, described the appointment as a decision driven by competence, pedigree and a wealth of professional experience, rather than godfatherism or political lobbying. He said AVM Adamu is a tested and trusted retired senior military officer whose dedication to duty and track record of service earned him the confidence of the President for such a sensitive national assignment.

Alhaji Aminu noted that the group jointly mobilised resources to organise the press conference as a mark of appreciation to President Tinubu, whom he said believes in merit and professionalism. He expressed confidence that the new chairman would justify the trust reposed in him, adding that military pensioners should expect improved service delivery under his leadership.

The group also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for what it described as inclusive governance and recognition of the North-East region. Dignitaries present at the press conference included Alhaji Abubakar Aminu, Alhaji Saleh Mamman, Hon. Sule Yola, Alhaji Umar Gashuwa, Comrade Abdul Wahala Ekeide, Comrade M.D. Zango, among others.
