Residents of Ibuzor and Okpanam communities in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have sent a distress call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) over alleged mass land grabbing, police intimidation and threats to lives in the area.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on behalf of the communities, Comrade Ifeanyi Victor Asiodu described the situation as unbearable, alleging that suspected land grabbers have been forcefully taking over ancestral lands. He claimed that armed thugs, allegedly acting on the instructions of the land grabbers and linked to one Fred Ajudua, have intimidated residents and, in some cases, killed innocent persons.

Asiodu further alleged that several petitions and complaints lodged with the police have not yielded any meaningful action, raising concerns among community members about possible connivance and conspiracy by some security personnel. He warned that the continued inaction of authorities could escalate tensions and trigger a crisis in the affected communities.

The community leader appealed to President Tinubu to urgently intervene to prevent a breakdown of law and order, while also calling on the Inspector-General of Police to order a thorough investigation into the alleged involvement of police officers with the land grabbers and ensure that any culpable personnel are sanctioned.

The press conference was attended by Pastor Jonathan Nduchukwuka from Okpanam, Comrade George Obi Nkenchor from Umuodafeisiuzo, and Barrister Chuma Egonu, legal counsel to Comrade Ifeanyi Victor Asiodu, all of whom expressed support for the call for justice, protection of lives, and the restoration of peace in the communities.
