The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government, Engr. Sunny Oche, has issued a firm directive to all security operatives to immediately restore and maintain law and order in the volatile border areas between Eza and Agila communities, particularly within Apa-Ugbozu. This decisive action follows disturbing reports of violent incidents that have tragically claimed lives and threaten to destabilise the hard-earned peace in the area.

The Chairman expressed deep concern over the alleged killing of an Agila indigene, Late Mr Godwin Egwurube, a retired Land and Survey Officer of the Local Government, and the subsequent retaliatory killing of one Mr Friday an Ezza man and a Mechanic. He described the cycle of violence as unacceptable, barbaric, and a grave threat to the collective peace and unity of Ado Local Government.

Engr. Oche emphasised that his administration will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order, warning that any individual or group found inciting violence or engaging in unlawful acts will face the full weight of the law. He noted that the Local Government had, through sustained efforts, secured relative peace in the area for upward of two years, and vowed that such progress must not be reversed by acts of lawlessness.

Accordingly, security agencies have been placed on high alert and mandated to take all necessary steps to de-escalate tensions, protect lives and property, and prevent any further breakdown of peace. The Chairman called on community leaders, youths, and stakeholders from both Eza and Agila to exercise restraint, embrace dialogue, and cooperate fully with security personnel as investigations commence.

He also extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of both victims, sharing in their grief and praying for strength and comfort for them in this difficult time.
