CBN Hosts ‘Summit of the Future’ to Empower Over 500 Youths

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has organized a Youth Action Event in Abuja, bringing together over 500 young leaders to discuss their role in shaping Nigeria’s future. The event, held at the CBN headquarters auditorium, served as a high-level debriefing on the United Nations’ Pact for the Future initiative.

CBN Governor Emphasizes Youth Involvement

In his welcome address, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso, represented by Deputy Governor of Economic Policy, Muhammad Abdullahi, described the adoption of the Pact for the Future at the UN Summit on the Future as a major milestone. He stressed the importance of youth engagement, sustainability, equity, and innovation in driving economic transformation.

Abdullahi highlighted that the CBN sees young Nigerians not just as future leaders but as active participants in shaping policies and fostering innovation today. He called for strong partnerships and collaboration to ensure successful implementation of these goals.

Minister of Youth Development Calls for Unity

Delivering the keynote speech, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, urged young Nigerians to prioritize national progress. He praised their excellence in education, entertainment, sports, and technology, emphasizing their ability to drive impactful change.

“We need your brains, creativity, and action. Let’s come together with ideas that prove to the elders that we are ready,” Olawande stated, assuring the youth of his commitment to their development.

Next Steps in the Pact for the Future

According to CBN Joint Consultative Council (JCC) Vice President, Jamilu Ado, the summit marks a crucial step in Nigeria’s journey towards achieving the ambitious Pact for the Future goals. The event included breakout and panel sessions, where participants shared insights and developed actionable resolutions for national progress.

A special message from the United Nations was also delivered at the summit, reinforcing the global importance of youth-driven initiatives.
