President Bola Tinubu has issued a strong directive to key players in the education sector to take immediate steps to reduce the number of out-of-school children and ensure every child gets access to quality learning.
At the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) quarterly meeting in Abuja, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunde Alausa, emphasized Tinubu’s vision for a transformed education system, urging states to take full responsibility for implementing the Universal Basic Education (UBE) program.
He stressed that schools must go beyond traditional learning by integrating skills development, creativity, and research, starting from early education.
Acknowledging the persistent challenges in the sector, Alausa called for innovative funding solutions, stronger partnerships, and strategic reforms to achieve the country’s 2030 education goals. He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting states in delivering quality basic education, improving teacher training, and enhancing school environments.
With a newly formed committee set to map out urgent interventions, Tinubu’s administration is reinforcing its “Education for Renewed Hope” agenda, ensuring that Nigeria’s youth are equipped for the future.
