A fatal accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has left nine people dead and three others injured after a Toyota bus collided with a stationary truck near Ayetoro in the early hours of Monday.

The crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m., was reportedly caused by excessive speed and driver fatigue. The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Ogun State confirmed that the bus, bearing number plate UYY165ZY, lost control before slamming into the truck (DKA244XC).

According to FRSC spokesperson Florence Okpe, the crash involved 13 people—10 men and three women—resulting in the deaths of six men and three women. The injured victims were rushed to Famobis Hospital in Mowe, while the deceased were taken to Idera morgue in Sagamu.

Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Fasakin Akinwumi, expressed deep concern over reckless driving habits, urging motorists to adhere to speed limits and take mandatory rest breaks to prevent such tragedies. He extended condolences to the victims’ families and advised them to visit the Mowe Unit Command for further information.
