Nigerian forward John Ebuka Okoye made a dream impact for Al Masry, netting a crucial goal in their dominant 3-0 win over Smouha in the Egyptian Premier League.

Coming off the bench in the second half, the former MFM FC star sealed the victory with a well-placed header, just 10 minutes after stepping onto the pitch.

“I’m really happy to score and contribute to the team’s success,” Okoye told Sports Vanguard. “The goal came from a set-piece we’ve been practicing in training, and I was in the right spot to finish it off.”

The 28-year-old striker, who recently joined Al Masry from Ceramica Cleopatra in February, is eager to make his mark. With his sharp finishing and attacking instincts, he will be looking to add to his tally when Al Masry host Modern Sport in their next league clash.

Okoye has an impressive track record, having netted 121 goals in 104 matches for Turkish Cypriot side Yenicami AK between 2016 and 2019. He was also crowned the Northern Cypriot League’s top scorer in back-to-back seasons (2016/17 and 2017/18).

Al Masry currently sit fourth in the Egyptian Premier League with 27 points from 16 matches, trailing leaders Al Ahly by nine points. As the season progresses, Okoye’s goal-scoring prowess could be key in their push for a higher finish.
