President Bola Tinubu has officially signed the ₦54.99 trillion 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, marking the largest budget in Nigeria’s history.

The signing ceremony, held on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was attended by the leadership of the National Assembly and senior government officials.

The National Assembly had passed the budget on Thursday, February 13, after increasing it from the initial ₦49.7 trillion proposed by the President. This represents a staggering 99.96% increase from the 2024 budget of ₦27.5 trillion.

Total Expenditure: ₦54.99 trillion
Statutory Transfers: ₦3.65 trillion
Recurrent (Non-Debt) Expenditure: ₦13.64 trillion
Capital Expenditure: ₦23.96 trillion
Debt Servicing: ₦14.32 trillion
Deficit-to-GDP Ratio: 1.52%

With this budget, the government aims to drive economic growth through increased capital spending while addressing Nigeria’s rising debt obligations.
