Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has taken legal action against Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, demanding N250 billion in damages over allegations of defamation.
The lawsuit follows Akpoti-Uduaghan’s explosive claims during an interview on Arise TV, where she accused the Senate President of making inappropriate advances toward her at his office and residence in Akwa Ibom.
Dismissing the allegations as baseless, Ekaette Akpabio described them as “scandalous and salacious,” stating they have caused her and her children emotional distress. She has now approached the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, seeking a restraining order to prevent further “spiteful” statements from the senator.
In addition to the hefty damages, Ekaette is demanding a public apology to be published in two national newspapers and a perpetual injunction barring Akpoti-Uduaghan from making further comments against her family’s reputation. She also seeks an additional N1 billion in punitive and exemplary damages for the harm caused by the allegations.
So far, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has remained silent on the matter.
