Owerri – In a bid to strengthen its governance structure and ensure greater inclusivity, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has initiated a review of its constitution, inviting Igbos worldwide to submit proposals for amendments.
In an official statement, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emeka Sibeudu, emphasized the importance of the constitutional review in enhancing the effectiveness and relevance of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization.
To ensure broad participation, Ohanaeze is calling on various stakeholders, including state chapters, affiliated groups, Igbo communities across the globe, and individuals with expertise in governance, law, and community development, to contribute their insights.
Submissions can be sent to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo secretariat in Enugu or via email at ohanaezendigbosecretariat@gmail.com between March 1 and March 12, 2025.
A public hearing is scheduled for March 14 in Imo State, where contributors will have the opportunity to present their recommendations and engage in discussions.
“We value the contributions of all Igbos in shaping the future of our organization. This process is an opportunity to build a stronger, more unified Ohanaeze Ndigbo,” the statement read.
The move signals a renewed commitment to strengthening the organization’s role as a unifying voice for the Igbo people, fostering development and cultural preservation.
