Anambra Native Doctors Swear Oath to Root Out Corrupt Practices

Traditional healers in Orumba South, Anambra State, have taken a sacred oath to uphold ethical practices and eliminate members involved in criminal activities.

Gathering at the Izo Mmili shrine in Umunze, the native doctors, under the umbrella of Odinala Orumba South, pledged to expose and ostracize any colleague who aids criminals, such as kidnappers and ritualists, by preparing harmful charms.

The move aligns with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent crackdown on fraudulent spiritualists through the Agunaechemba security network.

Speaking after the ceremony, the group’s chairman, Christian Umeh, emphasized their commitment to ethical practices. “This oath is our way of proving that we stand for good and will not tolerate wrongdoing among us,” he stated.

Local government chairman Shedrack Azubuike, represented by King Nwabueze, applauded the initiative, calling it a necessary step in making Anambra a safer and more liveable state.

The group has given non-participating members until Monday to take the oath or risk expulsion.
