For the first time in history, the FIFA World Cup final will feature a Super Bowl-style half-time show, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed.
Set to take place at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on July 19, 2026, the final will not only crown the world’s best team but also deliver an entertainment spectacle like never before.
Infantino, in an Instagram post, promised “a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world.” British band Coldplay has teamed up with FIFA to help curate the lineup, though details on the duration of the half-time break remain unclear.
Times Square Takeover & Global Celebration
FIFA is also set to take over New York’s Times Square for a massive final-weekend celebration, featuring events for both the third-place playoff and the championship match.
“These will be two incredible matches… what better way to celebrate them than in historic Times Square?” Infantino remarked, thanking Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans for helping bring the vision to life.
With Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Phil Harvey involved in finalizing the artist lineup, anticipation is already soaring.
