The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of three female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), who were abducted from their campus on February 26.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, the students were freed on the night of March 3, following relentless efforts by law enforcement agencies, including the Intelligence Response Team from Abuja.

Anene revealed that the students, who endured five harrowing days in captivity, are currently receiving medical care at Benue State University Teaching Hospital.

Commending the officers involved in the rescue operation, the Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, reassured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
