A Life of Impact: Tinubu Mourns the Passing of Esteemed Educator Margaret Agbaje

President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to Jimi and Segun Agbaje, along with the entire Agbaje family, on the passing of their beloved mother, Mrs. Margaret Agbaje, who died on March 5.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Mrs. Agbaje as a distinguished educator, community leader, and former President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Lagos Ecclesiastical Province.

“The President joins friends, associates, the Catholic community, and the many students whose lives she impacted in mourning her loss,” the statement read.

Throughout her remarkable career, Mrs. Agbaje left a lasting mark on education, shaping young minds as a mathematics teacher at Holy Child College, Lagos (1953–1959), St. Joseph’s Teacher Training College, Surulere (1960–1971), and later as Headmistress of St. Catherine’s Model School, Surulere (1971–1982). Her influence extended beyond the classroom, guiding students toward success through her unwavering dedication.

Recognizing her contributions, Tinubu described her as a beacon of knowledge, discipline, and service, emphasizing the enduring legacy she leaves behind—not just through her children but also through generations of students she mentored.

“Mama Agbaje’s life was a testament to kindness, humility, and an unshakable passion for education. To her students, her greatest joy was seeing them succeed,” the President remarked.

Beyond her work in education, Mrs. Agbaje was a pillar in the Catholic community, serving in various leadership roles, including her tenure as President of the CWO, Lagos Ecclesiastical Province.
