A series of multiple auto crashes on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Sunday morning left many injured and caused severe traffic congestion near the NASFAT Roundabout.

The accidents, which occurred around 7 AM, involved two trucks and four smaller vehicles. While the exact cause remains unclear, eyewitnesses attribute the crashes to overspeeding and poor visibility.

Emergency responders, including the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Police, quickly arrived at the scene to rescue victims and restore order.

Kabir Ojerinde, TRACE Deputy Commander for the Mowe-Ibafo axis, explained that one of the trailers, in an attempt to avoid hitting a smaller vehicle, lost control and rammed into several cars at the roundabout.

“Emergency teams are actively working to clear the wreckage and ease traffic flow,” Ojerinde confirmed. One of the involved trucks, loaded with watermelons, has already been removed from the road.

Authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of casualties or release details about the vehicles involved, pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, motorists are urged to exercise patience and drive cautiously as recovery efforts continue.
