“This Isn’t PlayStation!” – Chelsea’s Maresca Fires Back at Fans After Scrappy Win

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has hit back at criticism following his team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Leicester, insisting that winning in the Premier League is no video game.

Marc Cucurella’s stunning long-range strike secured all three points at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, lifting Chelsea to fourth place. However, the performance left many Blues fans frustrated, with some even booing the team off at halftime.

Maresca, known for his possession-based approach, was quick to defend his squad’s style, reminding critics that football isn’t as simple as playing on a console.

“If you think football is PlayStation and you win easily? No way,” Maresca fired back. “Every game is difficult. Leicester were 0-0 with Arsenal until the 83rd minute. The way our players performed today was fantastic.”

Chelsea could have doubled their advantage, but Cole Palmer’s first-half penalty was saved by Mads Hermansen. The England forward, who has now gone eight games without scoring, played despite battling illness.

“Yesterday, he didn’t train. He had a fever but told me, ‘I want to help this club get into the Champions League,’” Maresca revealed.

Meanwhile, Leicester’s struggles deepened as they suffered their 12th defeat in 13 league matches, leaving them six points adrift of safety. Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy acknowledged his side’s effort but admitted they were once again left empty-handed.

Chelsea now turn their focus to securing a Champions League spot, but Maresca made it clear – the fans’ support will be crucial.
