The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has taken down infamous kidnap kingpin Salisu Mohammed, alias Dogo Saleh, in a daring counter-kidnapping operation aimed at dismantling a violent criminal syndicate.
Saleh, who had been terrorizing communities along the Kaduna-Lokoja-Enugu highway and within the FCT, was intercepted at Gidan Abe Forest while en route to Bwari Area Council. Acting on intelligence, the police launched a precision strike, neutralizing the 21-year-old bandit, a feared hitman linked to numerous kidnappings, ransom extortions, and killings across Kaduna and neighboring states.
Authorities confirmed Saleh’s gang was deeply embedded in Nigeria’s kidnapping underworld, working under notorious bandit leaders and collaborating with the Ansaru terrorist group for weapons supply. He was directly involved in several high-profile abductions, including the kidnapping of a security officer’s wife, attacks on police quarters, and the murder of security personnel at Kujama Market in Kaduna.
During the operation, Saleh attempted to escape, abandoning a stash that included an AK-49 rifle, two loaded magazines, and ₦3 million in ransom proceeds. He later sustained fatal injuries in a gun battle between his gang and security forces, succumbing at Kubwa General Hospital.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, hailed the operation as a major victory against organized crime, vowing to intensify efforts to track and eliminate remaining members of the criminal network.
With Saleh’s reign of terror officially over, security forces remain on high alert, determined to wipe out kidnapping syndicates preying on innocent Nigerians.
