In a bold push for gender inclusion, Niger State Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago has directed that all vice-chairmanship positions in the state’s 25 local government areas be reserved exclusively for women in the upcoming elections.

Governor Bago, known for his strong advocacy for women’s participation in governance, stressed that this move is not just about fairness but a strategic step toward sustainable development.

“For too long, women have been sidelined despite their immense contributions to society. It’s time to give them a seat at the table,” Bago stated.
