A prominent Rivers State activist, Jake Epelle, has declared that the push to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara is doomed to fail, as the people of Rivers are unwavering in their support for him. Speaking candidly on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, Epelle firmly stated that Fubara has not committed any impeachable offense and that any efforts to remove him from office would be unsuccessful.
“Let them try impeachment; they will not succeed,” Epelle confidently declared. “Nobody will impeach Fubara. The people of Rivers State are solidly behind him. Fubara will not be impeached—mark my words. The call by the FCT Minister to impeach him is simply unfounded. While the Minister may have influence and connections, there is a constitutional process that will take its course.”
Epelle also urged both Governor Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike to put aside their differences for the sake of the people of Rivers State. He emphasized that it is vital for both leaders to sit down and resolve their issues in a peaceful and democratic manner.
“It is crucial that Fubara and Wike come to the negotiation table. It is undemocratic and unjust for one person to dictate the terms for peace. These egos must be put aside—this state is bigger than any individual,” Epelle asserted. “The Rivers people are resilient and we love our country. This constant bickering and threats from both sides must end. It hurts my heart to see it.”
Epelle’s passionate call for unity and dialogue aims to calm the rising tensions in the state, reminding both factions that the welfare of Rivers citizens should take precedence over personal conflicts.
