In a major security operation, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intercepted a Mercedes Benz C300 with a customized plate number FORBES JR, recovering a locally made firearm and two live cartridges during a routine stop-and-search in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, the vehicle was flagged down at the Control Post during an intensified security operation aimed at cracking down on illegal firearms and criminal activity in the state.

Inside the luxury vehicle were three male occupants:

  • Nsisong Paul Okon (27) – from Itak Village, Ikono LGA
  • Francis Forbes (62) – from Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya Village, Ikono LGA
  • Prince Forbes (27) – from Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya Village, Ikono LGA

Following the discovery of the weapon, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba M. Azare, has ordered a full-scale investigation to determine the source and intended use of the firearm.

The Akwa Ibom Police Command reaffirmed its zero tolerance for illegal arms possession, vowing to intensify efforts to keep the state safe from criminal elements.
