Egypt, Hamas, and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) have praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks affirming that Palestinians will not be expelled from Gaza.

Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, Trump firmly stated, “Nobody’s expelling any Palestinians,” when asked about potential plans for forced displacement from Gaza. His statement comes amid ongoing truce negotiations between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt, the U.S., and Qatar.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry welcomed Trump’s position, calling it a “positive step” that should be built upon to advance peace efforts. Hamas also viewed the comment as a “clear retreat” from any previous U.S. stance supporting displacement.

“We appreciate the U.S. president’s statement confirming that Gaza residents are not required to leave their homeland,” said Hussein al-Sheikh, a senior PLO official.

Trump’s remarks contrast with previous discussions about Gaza’s post-war governance, which have sparked controversy. Instead, an Egyptian-led proposal backed by the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) aims to rebuild Gaza under Palestinian Authority administration.
