Manchester United fans will have to dig deeper into their pockets next season as the club announces a 5% increase in season ticket prices—just days after unveiling an ambitious £2 billion stadium project.
While ticket prices for under-16s will remain unchanged, some senior concessions are being scrapped. Additionally, seats near the Old Trafford dugouts will be converted into premium hospitality tickets to generate more revenue.
The price hike comes amid financial concerns, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently revealing that United would have run out of money by Christmas without his intervention, which included 450 staff layoffs.
CEO Omar Berrada defended the increase, citing rising operational costs. “We’ve worked hard to ensure the pricing remains fair and reasonable,” he said. “After 11 years of price freezes, we raised prices by 5% for the last two seasons and will do so again to offset financial pressures.”
The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) had previously urged Ratcliffe to freeze ticket prices, especially after controversial mid-season matchday ticket hikes to £66. However, Berrada maintained that prices remain competitive compared to other top clubs.
As United pushes forward with its stadium revamp, fans will now have to decide whether the price increase is a necessary sacrifice—or just another burden.
