In a rare display of honesty, a tricycle operator in Aba, Abia State, has returned ₦2.04 million forgotten by a trader in his vehicle.

Mr. Emmanuel Obodoezie, who operates within the Ariaria International Market, discovered the money after passengers alerted him to a fallen bag from his tricycle. Instead of keeping it, he immediately sought out the owner.

According to Obodoezie, he had picked up a woman along Powerline Road and dropped her off near the Free Zone area. She mistakenly left her bag containing the money in his tricycle.

“When I realized the bag belonged to her, I went in search of her. Fortunately, she was already looking for me,” he recounted.

The relieved trader, Mrs. Chika Aloysius-Iwu, was overwhelmed with gratitude. “I had planned to deposit the money in the bank but forgot it on the seat. I don’t even know how to thank this man. May God bless him and his family.”

Obodoezie’s integrity has since earned him recognition and celebration from the Ariaria Market traders, with many calling on the government and well-meaning Nigerians to reward his honesty.
